Counselling for men — and the relationships that matter to them
Experienced, down-to-earth counselling for men
Most guys don't come to counselling because they want to talk about their feelings. They come because something isn't working — they're stressed, angry, flat, not sleeping, or watching a relationship they care about fall apart — and what they've tried hasn't fixed it.
That's the work I do: practical, straight-talking counselling for men (and for couples) that actually gets somewhere. No lying on a couch or being psychoanalysed — just a useful conversation with someone who knows what he's doing from years of experience.
You and the problems you’re tackling will get taken seriously here, and you won’t be judged for being a man.
Does any of this sound familar?
You're more irritable or angry than you want to be, and it's landing on the people closest to you.
The stress doesn't switch off — you're wired, flat or not sleeping properly.
Something happened that you've never really dealt with, and it's still with you.
You're going through the motions and can't work out why it all feels pointless.
Your relationship's in trouble and you're not sure how you got here.
You don't have to be in crisis to come. If something's off, that's reason enough.
Couples & relationships
A lot of men first reach out when a relationship is on the line. I have years of experiencing working with couples — not to take sides or hand out blame, but to help you both understand what's actually going on and how things can be repaired.
And if you're the one who's been talked into it and would rather be anywhere else — that's alright too. A fair bit of good work starts right there. Sometimes just taking the first step and booking a session can get things moving in the right direction.
How I work
I don't run everyone through the same program. Depending on what you're dealing with, the work might be practical tools for handling stress and anxiety, making sense of something from the past that still has a grip on you, or shifting the patterns that keep tripping you up.
I have a master's degree and twelve years of experience working in counselling organisations — but in the room it's plain, direct and aimed squarely at what you came in for.
A bit about me
There aren't a lot of male counsellors around, and for a lot of men it's just easier to talk things through with another bloke — someone who won't judge you, make assumptions or turn it into something it isn’t.
I've spent twelve years doing this work. I’ve facilitated around a thousand men’s group sessions. I've sat with a lot of men through the kinds of things that are hard to say out loud. Whatever you're carrying, you probably won't be the first to bring it in here.
Having a chat is an easy place to start — no commitment beyond seeing whether it's a fit.
