Counselling for Anxiety

Anxiety counselling in Adelaide and online

Practical relief now, lasting change underneath.

Anxiety has a way of just taking over. The mind that won't slow down, the worry that hops from one thing to the next, the tight chest, the broken sleep, the sense of being on edge with nothing you can quite point to. You can be coping fine on the outside and still be worn out by what's going on underneath.

If that's where you’re at, counselling can help — and you don't have to be falling apart to come.

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • Your mind races and won't switch off, especially at night.

  • You worry about things that you know you probably shouldn't, and can't talk yourself out of it.

  • It shows up in your body — tight chest, churning stomach, tension, restless sleep.

  • You've started avoiding situations, people or places because of the dread that comes with them.

  • It hits in waves that seem to come from nowhere.

  • You're managing on the outside — but it's taking more out of you than anyone realises.

How I work

There are two sides to the work, and we start wherever you need.

First, practical tools to take the edge off — ways to settle a racing mind, calm your body's stress response, and get some steadiness back into your days. Most people feel some relief from this fairly early on.

Then, when you're ready, we look at what's really driving the anxiety underneath — the patterns, pressures or old experiences keeping it switched on. That's the part that helps it last, rather than just keeping a lid on it. I draw on whatever fits you rather than running everyone through the same program: some people want mostly the practical side, others want to go deeper, and both are fine.

Some clients also find hypnotherapy a useful way to regulate an overactive nervous system. I can bring this in if it suits you.

A bit about me

A master's degree and twelve years of counselling experience sit behind the work — but in the room it's plain, warm and human, not clinical. You'll be met where you are and move at your own pace, with no pressure to dig into anything before you're ready.

A first session is a low-pressure place to start — just a conversation about what's going on and how I can help.
